Chicken Chana Masala Recipe



Chana Masala, as the name implies is a chicken and chickpea stew. This dish is not only power packed in protein but is also full of flavour.
First a spicy chicken gravy is prepared and then boiled chickpeas are added and cooked to a stew form. This dish is flexible enough to be a part of any meal i.e. breakfast lunch or dinner.

Chicken chana masala marries very well with naan chapati or rice. For preparation, chickpeas should be soaked overnight and boiled in the morning. So gather your ingredients and lets have a go at it.

Ingredients:

  1. 300g Chicken With Bone
  2. 400g Boiled chickpeas
  3. 1/2 Cup Oil
  4. 1 medium Onion
  5. 2 Medium Tomatoes
  6. 1 Tsp Garlic chopped
  7. 1Tsp Ginger chopped
  8. 1/2 Tsp Turmeric 
  9. 1 1/2 Tsp red chili powder
  10. 1 Tsp cumin
  11. 1 Tsp coriander Powder
  12. 3-4 peppercorns
  13. 1/2 Tsp Ajwain (carom seeds)
For Garnish:

Coriander chopped
1-2 green chillies Chopped


Method



Take oil in a pot add onions and fry till light golden in colour.



Add chicken, cook till it changes colour. Add garlic and ginger.



Add red chili powder, turmeric and cumin. Add chopped tomatoes add a little water and let cook till chicken is tender.



When the chicken gravy is ready add boiled chickpeas.



Let cook for about 5 minutes on low heat until chickpeas are fully incorporated in gravy. Add ajwain seeds, chopped fresh coriander and green chillies.
