Tiramisu Cake Recipe

Tiramisu meaning lift me up is a coffee flavoured Italian dessert. This decadent Italian dessert is popular all around the world. Tiramisu has a lot of variations but the basic recipe is the same.
Savoiardi i.e lady finger sponge is dipped in a coffee mixture and then layered with mixture of eggs sugar and mascarpone cheese.

I am posting this recipe with slight changes to the original version. Instead of savoiardi I am using sponge cake and I will add  fresh cream with mascarpone cheese. I will be omitting eggs, some variations of tiramisu are without eggs.

eggs                                                      5
all purpose flour175g
mascarpone cheese250g
double cream 450g
sugarto taste
coffee1 tbsp
hot water1 cup
cocoa powder for sprinklingas needed

For The Sponge Cake:

Start beating eggs on low speed.

Gradually start adding the sugar 1 tbsp at a time. Slowly increase the speed, keep beating till all the sugar has been added and the mixture becomes very thick. This whole process takes about 20 minutes.

Take flour and fold into the beaten egg taking care to do it gently.

Pour the batter in an already greased tin and bake at 180 degrees. You can either use round tins or a square one. I have tried both and they look good.

You can either cut this cake in half after it has baked or you can make two cakes by doubling the recipe.

Filling Ingredients:

1 tbsp coffee
1 cup hot water

For Sprinkling:
4 Tbsp cocoa powder


Beat the cream starting at low speed slowly add the sugar continue till all the sugar is added now add the mascarpone and increase the speed. Beat till cream is light and fluffy. Set aside.

Prepare coffee:
Take 1 cup water in a pot add 3 tbsp sugar and 1tbsp coffee.Boil for few minutes till coffee is dissolved.


Take the cake and start applying coffee with the help of a brush. The cake should be soaked in coffee.

Apply whipped cream and top with another layer of sponge or if you have made two cakes add the second sponge on top.

Again add coffee mixture on top of the sponge.
Spread another layer of cream so that the cake is completely covered.

Sprinkle with cocoa powder and serve.

Thats it Tiramisu Cake is ready to be served with your tea or coffee.
